This short course introduces you to business processes and ISO 45001:2018 Health & Safety Management Systems. It lays the foundations for understanding, implementing, and working with Health & Safety Management Systems.
Providing a safe and healthy environment for your employees is a legal requirement for all organisations. ISO 45001:2018 (replaced OHSAS 18001) is the international standard for occupational health and safety management, which provides organisations with a framework to improve their OHS performance. Understanding the principles and methods of ISO 45001 will help you to reduce workplace accidents and injuries, manage legal and statutory requirements and identify and control the risks associated with the organization’s activities, products, and services.

Our introductory module aims to give trainees a strong background knowledge of workplace processes and the ISO standard for occupation health & safety management (ISO 45001). By the end of this module, trainees will be able to:
- Describe how processes operate
- List the phases of Deming’s cycle of continual improvement (PDCA)
- Define ‘Health & Safety’ in a business sense
- Perform hazard and risk identification
- Describe the advantages of a Health & Safety Management System
- Explain the standard structure of Annex SL
This is an introductory course, designed to provide you with a foundation of knowledge to build on. As such, this course is designed for anyone who wishes to enhance their understanding of ISO 45001.
We assess trainees’ understanding practical exercises and group discussions. There are no formalised assessments for this module.
100% attendance is required to successfully complete this course.
